MS Access 2007 cannot read XLS file

Post by jdorlon »

HelloHello,

I am using version 4.00.15 (according to the changes.txt file) with Delphi 2009 (all updates).

I created a file using XLSReadWrite4, and then tried to use MS Access 2007 to import it. MS Access gives an error stating that the file cannot be read. If I then open the file in Excel and save it, then MS Access can import the file.

I sent an email to components@axolot.com on January 13, with more details and the XLS file, but I have not received a reply.

Hello

I don't have Access installed so I can't test this. Is it an Excel 97 or 2007 file?

Hello,

I can repeat the problem using either format.

Do you have MS Word? You can also reproduce the problem there.

In Word, click the "Mailings" Ribbon tab.
Click "Start Mail Merge", then "Step by Step mail merge wizard"
A toolbar will appear on the right hand side. Click "Next" 2 times at the bottom of it, to get to step 3.
Then click "Browse" and locate a file created by TXLSReadWriteII4.
You get the error message "Error has occured: External tale is not in expected format"

If you cancel out, then open the file with excel and save it again, then repeat the steps, there is no error.

More info: This was not a problem with XLSReadWriteII3 and Delphi 7.
