Delete sheet corrupts file

Hello,
I have an Excel file of 60 sheets. Sheets are very similar - just few cells differs them from each other. I can delete some of them, but deleting most of them causes written file to be corrupted. There is a binary image on sheet is it counts...
What I'm going to gain with this is copying every sheet to an individual file. Since there is not sheet copy between components, this is the only way I had in mind (=read file, delete 59 sheets, write.... X 60 times).
Source file is in Excel 2003 format.
All ideas are welcome...
Ciao,
Axel.
